Your Guide

Lawrence Doherty is a CIOB Chartered Construction Manager. He is a Project Manager with international experience and a proven track record in delivering large scale, complex, city shaping infrastructure projects.

Lawrence extensive experience with Transport for NSW, delivering projects such as the Sydney Light Rail and Parramatta Light Rail.

When is it? Monday 3rd July 10am - 1pm (AEST)

  • Where is it? The tour takes us through around and through the heart of Parramatta CBD
  • Meeting Point: Transport for NSW, Level 10, 130 George Street, Parramatta NSW 2150. Please note - the tour ends on Church street, and we then walk to a nearby venue for a light luncheon.
  • Who's doing it? Hosted by Transport for NSW, and The Institute of Civil Infrastructure
  • Why should I be there? Understand the engineering challenges and solutions this unique project required. The Parramatta Light Rail is Stage 2 of this major infrastructure project, and will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometres, and will revolutionise the way workers, residents and visitors move around the Parramatta area. It will connect local communities in the Greater Parramatta and Olympic Peninsular, and bring the vision of a '30 minute city' closer to reality.
  • Parking: Street parking on George or Phillip Street, Divvy Parking Station on George Street, or Council Car Park on Phillip Street.
  • What's included? Walking tour with regular stops for engineering discussion. Light luncheon.
  • How Much? ICI Members $54, non Members $79.
  • Requirements? Walking shoes (no PPE required).
  • Weather: This is an outdoor event, with walking involved. A weather call will be made on the morning of the tour - you will be notified via SMS if the event is not proceeding.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Members of ICI will receive 5 CPD points

  • Health and Safety: This is an outdoor event, with around 90 minutes of walking involved across various surfaces. Please wear comfortable suitable shoes.
  • Clothing attire: Bring your own weather protection (hat, wet weather gear etc). An SMS will be broadcast on the morning of the event if it is cancelled due to inclement weather.
  • Covid requirements: Do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
  • Photography and videography: is allowed throughout all parts of the tour.
